Fraudulent Emails: Not Really From MidMich.net

For the a past month, MidMich.net has been a victim of a forged email worm (virus) being sent out by infected computers.

A computer worm that has infected computers around world has been sending out spam emails that appears to be coming from MidMich.net. It asks users to install an attached file onto their computer to update their system. Of course, this file is the worm.

The worm propagates by sending a copy of itself as an attachment to email messages, which it sends to target recipients using its own Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) engine. The said SMTP engine improves the propagation method of this worm since it is able to easily send email messages even without using other mailing applications, such as Microsoft Outlook.

The email message is as follows:

Mail server report.

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.

Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).

Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.

After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail addresses

Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.
